"Good Trouble" Online Conference by US Embassy to Georgia

15 February

Online Conference on Good Trouble Organized by US Embassy to Georgia

Throughout U.S. history, civil society has played a critical role in the country’s democratic development. As we celebrate Black History Month in the United States, the US Ambassador Degnan and Cultural Attaché Chris Anderson called an online conference to reflect on the contributions of civil society leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. and John Lewis. Students of ETI Holding was invited to join the conference.

Addressing high school and university students today, Ambassador Degnan emphasized that civil society leaders have consistently created “good trouble” in the struggle to strengthen American democracy, challenging government and society to create a more perfect union as the U.S. Constitution promised. Cultural Attaché Chris Anderson and Rusudan Gotsiridze, Bishop of the Georgian Evangelical Baptist Church, spoke with students about civil society’s role in promoting democratic development in both Georgia and the United States.
